April’s meetup is an opportunity for members to try as much VR gear as you can get your hands on (and we can get to the event), including but not limited to Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR headsets.

We’re looking for hobbyists and professionals with VR-related projects to show, so if you’ve managed to get your hands on the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive or other, please do bring it along. And please use the evening to chat freely about all your crazy ideas with each other!

We will also hear from Niall O’Hara, one of the driving forces behind Galway’s bid to be European Capital of Culture 2020. In parallel Galway has an ambitious plan to be a Virtual Capital of Culture, “the long term goal of which is to initiate the first steps on a long term journey of positioning Galway as the forerunners in artistic & cultural expression in one of the most exciting new mediums of the 21st Century”.

Niall is looking forward to meeting VR & AR enthusiasts and hearing your views on  what these technologies could do to enable that vision. So the format will probably include a ’round table’ discussion to generate ideas.

Please note: For security purposes our hosts – Workday – require full names on registration. And we take this opportunity to thank Workday again, who are also hiring by the way!
